Hi,

I am trying to create a DOS Client32 boot floppy for some PC's with Intel EtherExpress Pro 100/VE network cards and am having quite major problems getting it to work.

As the CE100B.LAN driver loads, I get the error message:

NIOS-201-109: An attempt to load CE100B.LAN failed because the module references an undefined external: CMSMShutdownMLID.

Then the rest of the Client32 files load and fail, finishing with a "File server cannot be found" message.

Does anybody know:
a) What this error message means (in plain english please, as I am not a Netware guru)
and / or
b) How I can get my bootdisk working.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

John

What version of NetWare are you running?
Any Support Packs loaded on the server?

It sounds like the version of the Adapter driver is not compatible with the Support files, MSM.COM, LSL.COM and ETHERTSM.COM.

Go back to your Intel Driver disk and make sure to use the support files that are included in that particular Directory structure for your version of NetWare.

Good Luck.

Hi,

The server is running Netware 5.1, I don't know what (if any) support packs are on, as my responsibility lies at the client end rather than server admin. This is something that has been bugging my colleagues for a while, and I am new here.

I didn't use the driver disk, I used a file downloaded from the Intel web site as I couldn't find a suitable .LAN driver on the disk supplied (the adapter is integrated onto the m/board).

If it's any help, I am using NIOS.EXE v2.09 but when I tried to use v3.00 from the Novell site it caused more problems than it fixed so I reverted to the original.

I have a working DOS bootdisk using the NIOS.EXE that I use at home, but I do remember that when I tried to configure it at work I had to do a lot of messing around with NLM versions.

What version of the CE100B.LAN driver are you using? If it is themost up-to-date, try regressing to an older version. I will check my disk tonight and see if I can help further then. -----------------------------------------------------

Hi,

I have finally had time to check the version numbers.

I am using NIOS.EXE v2.01 and CE100B.LAN v4.17
I also tried E100B.LAN v4.39 and NIOS.EXE v3.00 (in all combinations.)

Where can I obtain older versions of the driver?

Regards

John
