Help: We are being forced to buy Windows Millenium Edition on our new Dell Inspiron 4000 laptops because Windows 98 is no longer available. We are using Client32 ver 3.3 on these 6 laptops. After installing Client 32, if I go into the properties of any installed printer I get a Rundll32 has caused an error in <unknown>, Rundll32 will now close. I checked the System.ini file for the drivers=mmsystem.dll line and it has it. Novell TID 10062372 states that client32 v3.3 was not designed for ME. Dell, Microsoft, and Novell are at odds with each other on this home use operating system and business users are loosing out. Other than buying Windows 98 and installing it on these 6 laptops, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Do you have the latest drivers for the printers? Are these HP printers?

I tried the latest HP drivers for the LaserJet 4000 which does support Windows ME. It doesn't matter which brand or model of printer is installed; I get the error when I go into any printers properties. The printers will print; I just can't go into any printers properties. This error happened only after Client32 is installed. I tried it on 2 different PCs.

I tried both PCL5 and PCL6. Same problem with both drivers. I even tried to add a LaserJet Series II printer, an Epson dot matrix printer and various other makes and models; same results. The problem only occurs after client32 v 3.30. is installed.

Have you tried the MS client for NetWare networks? We know that the NetWare client doesn't work with ME(in your case). Setup a bindery context on the server and login using the MS client.

I tried re-installing client32 ver 3.30 from the SYS:\public\c32\setup.exe and the problem went away. The initial install was run using ACU (automatic client update) thru a login script. I had tried to re-install using ACU and had the same problem. I guess that I don't have to buy Win 98 or Win 2K Pro. Thanks for your input.
