Is there any way to pass variables from one client to another via the server? I'm thinking about developing a javascript game that passes variables back and forth in real time between two different clients across the internet.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Peter

Definately need some sort of back-end system and web interface to the database, perhaps MYSQL/PHP for a freeware solution.

'Realtime' would be a real pain though.

suppose you can you are using asp with access
first you should have database in client and goes to server the result you want you can see client
access(asp) data client---- >server(linux)----again client>

I'm thinking about getting the primary page to open a second, hidden page that is a very small asp file, with a script that causes it to refresh every few seconds, but a straight flow of data would be much better.

Any ideas how does it? They must be leveraging some advanced flash feature

regards,
Peter

Looks like Macromedia's 'Flash Communication Server' - Expensive, but oh so dreamy

Same thing that uses - talk about addictive, online interactive pictionary.

Anything that uses straight up HTML, ASP and javascript would have lag like the old HTML based chatrooms. You might be best developing a Java Applet if you want more immediate interaction.

I agree with dwarfthrower.. the power of Java is amazing and would be a good direction to turn to for such applications..

Have fun with it..
