Hi all,

Im doing a site for a new indie band. They want their fans to be able to upload pictures ? Any idea on how this would be best acheived?

its going to be in a ' fans section ' of the site.

they said they would even be cool with receiving an email from the site with fans images as an attachment , but how can I keep this within the site interface i.e. how can I have a form that enables the user to attach a picture which later gets emailed to the bands inbox, for them to then update a fanspage.xml file with the new images.

I hope that makes sense....

to outline it, just incase :

the user is on the site and goes to the fans page, where he/she gets a form to fill in with an attach image. This then gets emailed to the bands inbox , where they would later amend the fanspage.xml file with the new image.

if I cant have it as a flash form within the site, I would be happy with having it as an html form in a popup. But not sure where to begin in creating a form which enables the user to attach a pic?

would appreciate some advice on this?

thanks in advance,

suzi

you may want to suggest an alternative, which a car forum i frequent uses.

have the users submit a link to their files.

That way all the fan page will have is a bunch of links, that will fill in pictures. All the bandwidth usage will be on the person hosting the image, not on the indie site, which will probably have low bandwidth limits.

it's easier to add a link to someone elses site, than deal with overloading their bandwidth for the month when someone tries to upload 10 2 meg pictures.

just a suggestion...

Without Tek-Tips I would go Codal
-implementing random bugs for the sake of something to do.
