Client vs. server side scripts

Whats the rule for deciding to when to use a "server script" versus a "client side" script, and the reason to do so?

simple server side script deals with information available on the server while client side deals with info available in the client's machine (ie what is entered in the forms of an HTML page)...

Known is handfull, Unknown is worldfull
