I'm a little confused by your post. If you are saying that you are trying to install the client on a Server it will not work. There is some hacking you can do to make it work, but you should really install the server version on that box.

In the mean time, if the server is sending out thousands of emails, take it off line. Your best bet is going to wipe and rebuild the server.

Sorry and good luck!

Installing the server versions doesn't necessarily mean that it HAS to be a server, so polymath5's reply is right, including taking that machine and rebuilding it.

Well I did get rid of the emails without rebuilding it. Through a lot of trial an error...
I went into Exchange and set the Inbound/Outbound delivery to "Off flush all queues".

But the client still will not install on that box which just so happens to be runing NT server. Seems the Installer program is corrupted which is a Microsoft thing.

Thanks

Just to be clear, you are installing the Server part of the software, correct? Not the workstation client?

You might want to check MSKB Q295278. It deals with install shield failures.

You say you killed off the emails, but did you find what caused them? That's a real issue if you can't identify the cause, it might happen again.

Regretfully I still think you are looking at a wipe and rebuild. You really have my sympathy [cry]
