when trying to pull lots of records down over a network using a 56k modem it takes forever. Is there a better way of querying using crystal reports that will do the action on the server and send only the records needed down the line?

Depends what database you are using if its SQL server/Oracle then you might want to consider using a stored procedure. If the data set is still large then it will still take some time

Hope this helps

The key to SQL performance is to compare the record selection formula with the WHERE clause of the SQL statement that CR generates. Some formulas don't make it into the SQL. One option is to write a Stored Procedure that runs on the server, and write the report to use that SP. Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting
