Hello. I am running Networker 6.1 on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server Box. The installation goes fine (Server and Client on that box). I install the same file, but only the client selection on my client machines. On the server machine, I am able to add clients fine. When I fire up the clients, I am unable to find any Networker Servers or Clients. If I try to manually add a server (using the server name) it gives me an authentication error. I'm sure it's a slight overlook, but this has been killing me all day and night. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance..

I started noticing this when I upgraded from 6.1.1 to 6.2. Edit the properties of your "Networker User" shortcut, and add "-s servername" to the end of the target line. If it doesn't work after that, you probably have a name resolution problem.

Actually it was a name resolution problem. Got it running fine now. Just doing some tweaking. Thanks!!

Another problem is, if you use a personal firewall like BlackIce you will have the same problem, make sure you edit Blackice so it knows to pass the server and client.. just a thought.......

Always double check your hosts file, make sure its setup corectly.
Also you mentioned the installation of cleint went fine, but you did not mention, what servers did you authorize the client to backup to...this is imp to.
After the cleint is already installed you can edit nsr\servers file add one per line.
i usually add shourt and long name of the same server during client install, this illiminates problems later.
no commans inbetwen server names please.
