Has anyone got any suggestion for client settings for the Novell client in 95/98 and 2000/XP? We have our own software which access Fox-Pro database tables but we do experience some data corruption which I believe may be down to the client settings. I would like to try and achieve a configuration that will ensure data integrity but at the same time is really slow. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I also have some machines that will not shut down they just sit there saying Windows is shutting down I believe this is due to one of the client settings.

Have you tried to see how it works using NFAP? This will take the NetWare client out of hte picture completly.

Setting up NFAP for CIFS authentication is pretty simple and can be done with out bouncing the server.

I have removed the client and setup the windows 95 netware client this works a bit better but now it connects using IPX not IP. Heve you anymore advice on setting up the method you said earlier?

NFAP doesn't use the client (neither the Novell client nor the Microsoft client for NetWare).. It just used the Microsoft networking client and the microsoft credentials for authentication.

You install it using the NetWare 6 CD in the GUI on the server console. Very simple to setup, just go to install, and then give it the source path (Should be NETWARE6: if you have the original CD in the server).. Check the box for Native File Access Pack) and step through it. it's fairly straightforward.

Another thought though before you do that. There may be some settings you can change and get good results. This tid mentions a few settings that have helped in other situations.
