We had SMS 3 (Beta) installed on a Win2K server in an NT4 domain, this had to be temporarily removed but was re-installed 24 hours later with exactly the same config. While the original installation was there it picked up a large number of network pc's and installed the client and tools on about 30% of them. Since it's been reinstalled it's picked up a bunch of switches, jet direct boxes and a handful of pc's, but none of the pc's that already have the client. The few pc's it has discovered haven't had the client installed depsite the push installation being configured. I've tried manually installing the client on several pc's but get the "SMS server could not be located" message (even when I type it in manually).

It'll be failry obvious we're flying a bit blind on this so I'd be grateful for any help.

Hi Andy,

yep I enjoyed my weekend and hope, you also did ;)

On your SMS-Server there are 2 dirs to look at:
SMS\Inboxes\CCR.box and SMS\Inboxes\CCRRetry.box

There you should find your machines....

And yes, the remote installation may take time, but you can also check the log (WNRemote) on the client - maybe it just has not reported back that the client is installed....

Greetings,
Chris

As I watch those inbox folders the numbers are fluctuating so I guess everyhting's working ok and we'll see a growing number of installed clients over the next few days.

Thanks for all your help.

Andy
