Client PC's falling out of Group Policy Scope randomly

I have implemented 5 or 6 different applications to distribute to client PC's based on Group Policy on a Windows 2000 Server. Certain PC's, at what seems like random times, will unload the software on a reboot. This tells me they are falling out of scope for whatever reason. I am not sure why. If I run a "gpupdate /force" on the XP PC's then the application will load on next reboot. Then it will be a month or so before it happens again. Does anyone have insight into why this is happening?

As Microsoft themselves are begging for forgivnes about this GP-installation....
Do another type of installation.

I've used GP to manage several networks with over 400 clients and have not come accross this problem so i think it's reasonably robust if a little inflexible as you cannot micro manage stations.

Can you tell us a bit more about your setup?

1. How many PC's are affected and are they all in the same OU?

2. How are they connected are they all on the same LAN?

3. Do you see anything in the event logs when the stations unload the spps?

4. Any other policies failing to apply correctly?

Cheers.

There have been at most 6 to 10 workstation effected out of over 200. They are all on the same LAN but are spread across two different subnets and each subnet has installation files on localized server as our subnets are attached via wireless for the moment. Also, they are all apart of the same OU.
All application policies seem to be react the same way.
I have looked at the event logs on the individual machines and haven't found anything of interest but will look more closely next time this happens.
As a solution, I have taken affected machines out of the policies and loaded them directly from the application discs.
Not sure if I have answered all of your questions but hope what I have written has given you some additional insight.

So the affected PC's are spread across both subnets?

Are all 200 PC's in the same OU or did you mean the affected PC's are all in one OU?

Are there any similarities in hardware on the affected PC's or are they plugged into similar switches?

Keep us posted on any events you find in the logs in the future.
