Client not connecting properly to WSUS 2012

working in a test environment with WSUS on Server 2012. Setup GPO and pointed clients to WSUS. Facing the issue where client laptops (Win 7 and Win 8) do not appear in the WSUS list of computers till I click on "check for updates" on each machine. The "wuauaclt /detectnow" does not seem to work

wanna add something. After entering the "wuauclt /detectnow", I see the following in windowsupdate.log "Can not perform non-interactive scan if AU is interactive-only
