I was wondering if there was anywhere in SMS that you could enter information about the client`s physical location.
I understand that this would be a manual process, but I need to know if it can be done or not.

If anyone could help with this it would be appreciated.

Use the MIFGEN tool to create a .mif file. The file shold be built with whatever fields you require to be filled in with pertinent information. When the mifgen tol is rn at the client it will automatically open the MIF file that you created. Once populated with data, close the MIFGEN tool and the mif file is saved to the appropriate inbox for collection on the next hardware inventory cycle. Your data can then ben viewd with Resource explorer or with a custom query.

Hi,
But i would like to say how can i get the location for the machine from where the MIF file will get information like this,

Thanks
DENIS

One thing that some companies do is to write the actual location to the computer's registry, either through an SMS package, or during the initial client build. Then just use the normal SMS_DEF.MOF processing for getting the registry inventory. Read through the MOF Editing Guide for more information:
