I have a test env't of 1 client, 1 server. I have installed the Client on my SMSCLIENT pc, ccmexec is running (and has been running for over a day) but it's not reporting back to the SMSSERVER that the CLIENT is installed. My permissions are set on the system container in AD for domain admins as well. I can install the CLIENT on the SMSSERVER, but not on the CLIENT. Out of ideas, can anyone help?

Yes...although it may appear that the client got installed, your client may not be receiving policies from the SMS Site Server's Management Point.

Check the Components tab of the client and make sure that you see some that are ENABLED.

Where would I see the components tab of the client?

In control panel.... its called SYSTEMS MANAGMENT. Open this and check the components tab. (this should be performed on the client machine)

Where would it say if it's "enabled" I'm on the CLIENT pc, and in the control panel I've opened up the SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT, and under the components tab all I see is a component name, the version, and the status, like this:
SMS Inventory Agent 2.50.2760.0 Installed

Can you be a little more specific about enabled? How does it get enabled?

Instead of the status being INSTALLED, it would say ENABLED.

If all components are listed with an INSTALLED status, this probAbly means that your client can not talk to the management point, or that your client hasn't been installed within a site- site boundaries, or client is having trouble finding the SLP.

Do you see a site code listed on the client?

I would start to look at the client log files. c:\windows\system32\ccm\logs

-later

Along with what Joseph suggested (be sure the SLP is registered in wins), Make sure you have set a default MP for the site, look on the client at the locationservices.log (can find the MP) and the clientlocation.log (assigned to a site)

make sure the client is in a boundary (just because you push out a client and it installs doesnt mean its in a site boundary)
