I'm having trouble getting back on to the Internet (dialup) after swapping motherboards. I'm forever confused about the myriad of settings in the XP "network Connections" boxes. I know TCP IP has to be present and checked but what about this godforsaken Client for MS networks - is that necessary to be checked? All I want is my Dialup back!! thank you.

Got Linux? lol
I believe that has to be checked to run the daemon responsible for advertising your pc on a network, including the internet. I could be wrong...I have always suspected that it was yet another way Gates could spy on you...

It's not necessary, not for direct internet access.

Carlsberg don't run I.T. departments, but if they did they'd probably be more fun.
