I have been struggling with this for weeks. i have rebuilt the server several time using different tutorials and settup meathods. Anyway what I am trying to acomplish is the following. I have a belkin wireless router with a firewall which hooks directly up to my cable modem. From the router i have connected the windows 2000 server machine which is set up as follows:
external nic
ip 192.168.16.80
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.16.7(the router)
dns 192.168.16.7
internal nic(serving dhcp)
ip 10.10.1.1
subnet 255.255.0.0
gateway none
dns 10.10.1.1
I have set up the DNS the dhcp all are active directory integrated. The server can browse the internet, however when i enable routing and remote access (either as router or as VPN) the server can no longer browse the internet or ping the router. I can connect my xp clients to the domain just fine however they cannot access the internet no matter what I do.
I have the DNS forwarders configured to point at the ISP domain name servers and I also have the router option turned on in the DHCP scope options and that is pointing at the router IP(192,168.16.7).
Well that is all my information and this is what i am trying to acomplish. I want all my computers to be able to connect to the domain and connect to the internet. I also have a laptop that connects through the wireless router which I would also like to be able to connect to the domain.
(I think i can accomplish this by running a cable from the server to a hub and then running a cable from the hub back to the router)--will thish work---? I also want to set up a VPN so that I can connect to the network and use network resourses when I am out of town.
Any help would sure be appreciated.
thanks
Adam
