My client resides on a Windows XP professional wrkstn.
The wrkstn resides behind a NAT server (Microsoft ISA)

The wrkstn has the Microsoft Firewall client installed on it.

When I attempt to set up an ICA connection in Citrix program neighbourhood the citrix server cannot be seen.

I can ping the server from the client.

Are there any TCP/UDP ports that are required to be open for a succesful connection from the client through the firewall, besides 1494 ?

Any help is welcome

hi,

At client site,
which "Network Protocol" do you use in Connection Tab:

- TCP/IP + HTTP

or

- TCP/IP

At Server site,
which Version of "Citrix" are you using :
Metaframe XP or 1.8 ?

the Server is Metaframe XP FR2 SP2

At the client side I set TCP/IP.
I have seen that TCP/IP+HTTP is recommended for clients inside a firewall and have tried that also, but to no avail.

the ISA server communicates on port 8080 outbound for HTTP.

just another question:
do you not see server name when you drop down combobox
under Server radio button,
or
Entering in Server Location, selecting TCP/IP
ADD entering ip-address of server do you not receive
connection ?

Victor

no problems with the extra questions, I appreciate your time.

After entering in the address in the server location box, the server is not seen in the drop down box.

hi,
with that configuration you need only 1494
(broadcat to obtain a list of server without
giving an ip address)

(if you used TCP+HTTP you need also TCP 80 or 8080
to discover server farm, and then servers list)

Always in Server Location, there is a button for
firewall setting: see there if there is something for you
as Alternate address, or other.

bye

Hi Darragh

is the ISA server on the Citrix Server or are they on a different machine?.
If they are on different machine, are the incoming requists redirected to the Citrix Server or Not?

The client is behind the ISA server.

The Citrix server is outside the ISA server residing behind its own Proxy server. This Proxy server and the citrix server reside on the same box
