The pre-execution batch file that I have given the client agent execute, does not run before backing up the client. IT backs up everything ok, but the pre command does not execute. Any ideas ?

Thanks

Few things to try.
Run the same command from a command line to see it work.
Run some other command as a Pre Command like mkdir to see it work.
Specify the full path.
Permisions to the ARCserve share.

Hi,

Can you mention the version of ARCserve being used.. and how you have setup the pre/post option ...??

Have you enabled any of the verification opntions on the job options??

cheers

It is brightstor 9.0, yes the batch file runs fine by itself. The command is entered in the pre-execution part of the configuration setup. I have not set any verification option.

Please explain what you mean by "pre-execution part of the configuration setup".

It will help if you give the exact command and the exact contents of the batch file.

the batchfile path is d:\backup\affcopy.bat

The contents of affcopy.bat----

@echo off
d:
cd backup
psexec \\computername g:\backup\pre.bat
xcopy /Y \\computername\g$\backup\datafile

When configuration window is opened the bottom part of the window has the pre-execution and post-execution field to be filled woth the command path, that 's where it goes.

Does the agent log report running the command?
Try adding a delay.
Also try copying the batch file into the agent directory.
Did mkdir work as a Pre command?
