I want to know the importance of Client Address Sets in ISA Server. If we do not create Client Address Sets, the Internet & mail at the Clients will function or not. Any one who can put some light is welcome.
U need it so ISA will know where and who to direct the traffic to. W/O the client address the ISA will not know where to direct requests to. Having client addresses enables u to easily distinquish where ur requests are heading (assuming u gave them a good name).
Thanks for the reply. I want to know if i don't give and Client Address sets the POP mail in Outlook Express at the clients will function or not?
Please confirm.
Client address sets are usually used by SecureNAT clients to get through the proxy. Since SecureNAT clients cannot use user or group-based authentication, you can set up access rules based on IP addresses to give them access to whatever. I use client address sets so that my internal Linux servers can get through the proxy for certain services on the Internet.
For example, if I wanted all of my Unix clients to be able to browse the web through the proxy, I would create a client address set of my Unix workstations IP addresses and then create a rule that says that these IP addresses can access outbound HTTP.
