Client Access Express ODBC fails to connect

Scenario: CAE v5r1m0, (Service Level SI11806), ODBC DSN; VB

We did a custom install of CAE, installing only what was required for Data Transfer.

The application connects and works flawlessly under Windows XP Pro, but fails to connect under Windows 2000 Pro.

Does anyone know whether this is an OS limitation, or a possible configuration parameter I've missed?
