I am at a loss and hope somebody can help me.

I have a an old AS/400 Advanced Server running release version V4R3.

I have successfully been running Client Access Vers 4 rel.5 from my PC.

However I have recently had broadband internet loaded onto my PC, and I can no longer access the AS400 using Client Access. I get a message CWBC01048 - timeout occured.

When I use AS/400 Operations Navigator and try to verify the connection i get:

CWBC01003 - winsock error etc.
connection failed

I know this is a bit vague, but unfortunately my technical resource is unavailable at present. Any suggestions or pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a DNS issue. Your pc is now looking at the internet for all other computers. Try changing your CA connection to use IP rather than DNS name.

Are you able to access other machines on your network?

If not, you may not be on the local network anymore. Try to ping the AS/400 IP. If you can ping it, use the above change.

Let us know if it worked.
