Client 3.2 restarts Win98 on Startup

I'm using Windows 98 on a fairly new Acer laptop. Each time the machine boots and the Novell begins its login process, the machine just shuts down and restarts. I've tryed reinstalling Novell, Win98, and two different NIC cards. The card I'm sticking with is a 3com EtherLink III.
When I disconnect the net connection, I boot just fine... Any suggestions would be nice

I had this before and believe it or not, it was the 'N' icon in the system tray. Try getting the system up however you do. Goto the network control panel. open client 32 properties. There's a setting about showing the 'N' icon in the system tray. Turn this off and let me know what you get. If not, what version of client 32.
