CLID sent to some mobile phones, not others

I have a CM 6.3 which uses a Nortel CS1K 7.6 for PSTN resources (migrating blue to red).

When dialing some mobile phones from the Avaya 96X1’s, the CLID sends just fine. When dialing other mobile phones the CLID does not send, and the recipent gets a “Restricted” or “Unknown” call trying to come in. No common denominator among carriers or mobile OS’s.

One constant is the Avaya telephones on the CM. Nortel telephones on my CS1K have no issues with this. Both use the same PRI circuits and carrier for outbound dialing.

I don’t see how I can troubleshoot all the cell phones (unless someone knows a magic setting), but there must be something related to the Avaya CM – or more likely with the CS1K integration – that I’m hoping I can fix.

Any ideas? Thanks as always!

Check your Public unknown and make sure you are diplaying or trying to display CLI acceptable for each Service provider. Also check trunk group settings for outgoing calls.

please also advise if you have Least cost routing (LCR) multi-vendor trunks?

Type of trunks, SBC or Direct PRI or BRI

Thank you

Hi, I posted this issue to a number of forums, and after several weeks with Avaya Tier 4, we found a resolution. Problem was unique to the integration of CM to CS1K, and the fix was found by a Tier 4 Avaya blue/Nortel engineer.

To recap, the CLID=Unknown issue was outbound calls from all CM phones, via CS1K PRI to PSTN, and only to Verizon cell phones, and only certain models of iOS and Android phones. For example, all Verizon iPhone 6 and 6S’s, but not 6S Plus’s. All Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6’s, but not S5’s.
Here was the fix:

• Built a CMDB table
• Added RLNO 1 (rule)
• In the RLNO: RNPI = E164 (and RTON should default to NCHG)
• In the RLB, changed CTBL to 1 in RLI 1 ENTR 0
• Add CTBL 1 to all other RLI’s and their ENTR’s.

The engineer was surprised that neither DMI nor any trunk settings failed to fix the issue. He also said that in 30 years of working on CS1K/Meridian, he’s never had to mess with CMDB tables.

having a very similar issue, but without the Nortel in the mix. have comm mgr 5.2.1 with pri's for outgoing calls. get sporadic reports from folks saying their calls are displaying unknown or restricted on peoples phones.

I myself have it happening since I got an iphone 6. I have ec500 setup on my desk phone. when some outside calls come into my desk set, they shown unknown on my cell. same thing happens when a call originates at another extension, and then gets transferred to mine. none of this happened on my iphone 4, ever.

strange things.

thanks, tim

Very strange. Did you look at this Avaya product support notice?

At first I thought this related to my issue, because it indicated only certain carriers and certain models of phones getting unknown or restricted CLID. Maybe it relates to your issue, and the workaround might help?
