CLID ON DID'S 1

I was told that CLID only worked with PRI (digital trunking), and could not be set up from a DINT. The local telco says that the CLID is being sent thru the DINT and will work on a MICS. the CLID is showing up on the Multi Lines but not the DID's am I missing a setting?

Put the CALLER ID Information that you want the caller to see.


Funny Fact: Since you can put in any number that you want, a funny joke is to put in the person that you are calling's cell phone number..when they look to see who it is it confuses the hell out of them!

What's a DINT? (I'm haven't worked with the 'little' Nortels in years...

It is my understanding that T1's to Nortel equipment can do ANI or DNIS but not both on a plain T1, but I'm used to working with the Option series.

Do not know what DINT is, but CLID works on copper lines as long as you have the correct line card. Works on all Norstars 4.1 and up.

yes this is for incoming only, the local telco tells me that it is a setting in the MICS I will try the OLI. But does that only permit me to specify the incoming number for the DID to recognize?

I am still a bit fuzzy.. You can get DID trunks on a nonPri, but you must have a DID card in the switch. Only way to recognize incoming digits. CLID the simple lising on the number of the person calling. Cannot route based on CLID. If you have a single line going to a single person you can do a Private To:, but sounds like you need a did card.

CLID is sent over the PRI trunking, but not Direct Inward Number Trunk (DINT). The local telco says it is but when the system is using Multi-Line rotary for 2 way trunking it works for the lines on the rotary but not the DID. I know that the DID'S are programed to targeted extensions off the system. When the call comes in on the multi line to an extension they see the number, when it comes in on the DINT they do not see it although the telco syas it is being sent.?

Incoming callerID is available only on ISDN-PRI (on a T1 23B+D), ISDN-BRI (2b+d), or analog loop start lines. PRI uses a DTI interface and PRI keycodes, BRI use BRI trunk cards, and analog loop start use CI trunk cards (I think that's what they're called.)

Plain T1 interface configured with in-band (DTMF singalling, usually either ground or wink start) do not have the hardware to do true CallerID.

Analog DID trunks also do not have the hardware to receive CallerID. You say that your 'multiline' receive CallerID, but your DID don't. Are these all analog trunks? If so, I think your 'multline' are loopstart with CallerID, and yoru DID's are regular DID, and they're not capable of CallerID.

If you want DID and CallerID (inbound) at the same time, has to be PRI.

jgideon is right .. No Caller-ID available on Analog DID trunks...

If you can get In-Band ANI from your Telco then you should be able to receive and display the calling number. There is a prompt under the line programming for ANI y/n set this to yes. You will only get the option if your T1 is set up as E&M or DID with Wink Start signaling.
