Some of our staff in one location will dial long distance from Canada to Washington, USA. The calling line ID is not always displaying correctly.

For example the same employee will call 1-253-xxx-xxxx several times in one day. The person at the Washington office does not always see the 306-xxx-xxxx CLID, yet the employee is calling from the same phone and same line.

What is happening to cause this? Can it be fixed?

Assuming you only have one long distance pri route, the caller id is sent out on all of your outbound ld calls as you have the clid tables set in your pbx. (ld 21.. prt TYPE clid).

If the same far end switch does not always receive the clid, this usually means that the call was not delivered end to end as an ISDN call. This is not uncommon although most ld networks are aable to deliver end to end ISDN.

You can't do anything on your ed to make the far end always receive the CLID you are sending.

Welcome to the world of international hand off. It all depends on the trunk group used between the Canada and the US. If it is SS7, or feature group(FG) D, you will get the CLID. If the trunk is FG B, you will get nothing or unknown.
