Can anyone tell me where the file lives that contains the passwords used by the web browser - eg. On the tek-tips home page you can click - remember me - this must go to a stored file somewhere and be able to be deleted to make your pc more secure.

The problem being that I will be passing on my pc to a friend and do not want them to have access to all the sites I have been into. I have tried the usual ways such as - Internet Options clear history delete temp int files cookies etc.

You could re load Windows or My Computer>C>Windows>Cookies and Local settings and delete.

Search your hard drive for *.pwl and delete the file(s) it finds. That's where it's all stored.
You can (should) also go to Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete button, and you'll have options to delete stuff there as well. Cheers,
Jim
