How to clear history in korn shell?

there should be a file .sh_history in the users home directory, just clear it.

# cd /home/jsmith
# > .sh_history

In HP-UX 11.0 it's not working. I've issued the command
>.sh_history
when I type history it's still shows all the previous commands.

make sure you have write permissions for the file and that there is a space between the redirect and the filename.
