I am managing a number of Legends remotely with WinSPM. Newbie question: How do I clear the error logs remotely? I am specifically referring to Last xx errors, and transient errors.

Thanks much, Bob

Whan looking at the log in the standard SPM press drop and it will clear them one by one. I think it is alt-d or alt-p - you will see it on the screen.

You can not clear the last XX errors without doing a SYSTEM ERASE.

So if you REALLY want to do that, do a back up first.

merlinman,
The option 'system erase' sounds fairly scary. Is the backup a CYA activity in case system erase literally erases all of the config data?
Thanks, Bob

Ttech. Thanks for the info, works great.

Not just yes, BUT ABSOLUTLY YES - A system erase will do just that - SYSTEM ERASE, then you must do a RESTORE from your Back Up to get all your translations back.

Normally, I just leave the XX errors alone, and concern myself with those that I can manage, Permanent & Transient.

System Erase is pretty drastic, and it's going to knock off your remote connection. Now that it is defaulted, how are you going to dial in and do a restore. And, can you even do a restore remotely, since the system need to be idle?

Yes you can, but as TTT says, the system has to be idle.

Just leave the Last XX alone.

After all, most of them are minor and the Perm and Trans are the ones you really need to look at, AND CAN CLEAR.

I never bother with the Last XX, except to get a feel for what is going on with the system.

I believe rkochis wants to get rid of the lit up alarm light or the alarm on his QCC operator right? He is new like he said, and we're going to into it. Rkochis, you just want to get rid of the light or what's coming up on a display right?
Just go into maintenance and your error log, only transient an last 99 you can clear. You do this by what ttech said with the drop key. Just keep hitting "moe" or "page up" to go through the errors and keep hitting drop. This will clear your light on the processor and/or and alarm on the console.

I have adapters that are reporting errors (Slot->xx->Status->errors=yes) and I am fairly anal about such things, expecially when I am remote.

Merlinman's got the answer then. If it's the errors you can't clear, then you'd have to do a backup, a reinitialize and then a restore. Maybe Avaya could do it for you and charge you a million dollars for it?

Thanks for the offer Killbox, but I already have someone who would charge me a million for it! (Local geeks in town).

Well, if those local geeks know how to use that Magix Monitor, squeeze some docs out of them and shoot me an email. Can't talk about it on here.
