Does anyone know how to zero out the Aloha inventory module?

Per usual, a client stopped using it for about a year and wants to get back at it again (this is why I never recommend any one purchase it-no one ever seems to keep it updated)

They basically just wanna clear all the totals out and start from scratch?

We use the Fastech inventory (Aloha Inventory) in all locations. Never had to zap an entire database. You wanting to start completely over or what exactly? Is this a standalone version or is it being managed by a central inventory master?

Megabyte-

It's a stand alone version.

Yes, they just want to nuke the totals more or less and start over.

Truthfully, I really don't know that much about it and I really didn't play with the interface that much the last time I was onsite (he hinted at doing it before, but this time he flat out asked to have the totals clear). So it may be as simple as command in the interface.

Had to play around with this to figure out a good approach, since we've never had to start from scratch again. I would recommend deleting the FDATAS.MDB database file and then running the inventory setup.exe.

During install, you will be prompted to install either a blank database, a demo database, or a basic database. -I'd recommend the last option.

We have a base database file we use for new installations in my gold code image, but that is already built to be compatible with our items and replication updates, so I cannot provide that one as it would be full of stuff no one else would need.

Thanks megabyte.

I assume this means I will need both the Aloha CD for this version and that they will lose all their entered items as well. (it's better than nothing, as right now it's not getting used at all- maybe after they've had to re-invest all this time, it will actually be a good thing and it will make them stick with it).

Yes, you will need the install CD to run the installer again. When you move out the database file, the installer will drop in one of the three databases as a replacement.

The inventory product is a great system. We've added on an online web-ordering and invoicing piece to it that we developed in-house, and it is a good system. It does take some discipline to use, configure and maintain, but it will do what you need only as well as it is maintained.

I am working on deploying the newest release to all sites (Not sure what version your customer has), but the new one is has matured quite a bit, and is alot easier to use.
