Hi all

Sorry for the newbie question.

System is Mitel 3300 with 5220 IP Phones.

One of our users has a full voice mailbox and I was wondering if there was a way using the administration tool to delete all the voice mails in the mailbox.

Thanks for you help.

David

Without digging out a manual, the only way I know that will for sure fix it is to delete the mailbox and rebuild it.

Hi,

Is it an embedded VM ?
If so, and if you mean that yo want to erase all messages of one specific mailboxe, the way is to connect to the ICP thru ftp :

Then go to the hidden folder /vmail/d/vm/msg

You'll have all files; (One file per user)

You just have to delete the one you want.

Keep in touch

Now, it's about French users too !!!

This may cause database corruption unless the index file is modified as well. I would not recommend this method. The voice mail should re-sync the index file the next morning at 2:15am, but it's like asking a passenger to land the plane.

Your comment is interresting "MitelGuy" even if I've tested this method and never had any problem.but...

It is true also, that, when you delete messages using ftp and call your vm, it keep saying that you have messages...

Did you already have problems using this method ?

What you could also do (but have to think before...) is to save your announce messages, delete the vm, record the announce again and upload the saved once (if it is a specific one like recorded announce)...

bye

I would not recommend mofifing the index file. I wouldn't even do it myself. It's like a mini-database and it character & space sensitive. One little mistake and it could cause the voice mail to reboot (i.e. if voice mail gets into a situation where it can't make sense of what it's reading from the index file, it **may** reboot the voice mail, but not the switch. I don't even feel confident at my level to do it myself.

I don't even know how modifying the index file ?
Where do you do it ?

I was just saying about deleting messages files thru ftp...

Thanks for your comments

I got the messages all cleared out.

Thanks all for the help.

It's BerkleyDB engine and it's possible to modify it but you need to make sure that nobody is using VM when you replace the file. The simple way is to save name and greeting files and rebuild a VM box. If you want to keep an original PIN, take a look at file MASTER.DAT in /vmail/c/vm/
It's also a database but it's very easy to see users PINs.
