hello,
this problem seems to be common on a range of systems but, currently, i am dealing with a kxtd 1232 v6. for testing purposes i have [on bench] nokia 22, 32 & telular FCTs [aka premicells]

an FCT is connected to an analogue extension port of the 1232.
you may dial the extension number, receive dial tone from the FCT, dial the gsm mobile number. they answer, you talk, clear down - okay.

if you dial the gsm number of the fct: it answers, gives you panasonic dial tone, you dial the desired panasonic extension, talk, hang up - okay

in other words: all is well

however, it seems that the crucial party that does the clear down is the FCT or the called party, not the 1232. ie a clear signal is not being sent from the 1232 to the fct [this has been confirmed by panasonic].

the best example of what detrimental effects this can have is:

you dial from a 1232 extn to an external party via the fct and get a voicemail service.
you, naturally hang-up!.
the fct receives no clear signal so stays on line.
the called party stays on line because you have not ended the call.
helpfully, the 1232 now sends re-order or nu tone so any silence detection commands on the fct are useless.
the voicemail hears these sounds and is more determined to stay on line
as no party is clearing down the call is potentially endless.

notes:
there are a range of clear down detection options on the fct but, because the 1232 is not sending any, they are useless

silence detection is no good because there is no silence [long periods of nu have been monitored eminating from??]

simaler problems have always existed on pbxs especially when using TAMs. now more and more eqpt is being hung off pbxs it should be mandatory that a clear signal is sent when an extn clears down [as is the case when a trunk clears down]. We recently fitted a retell TAM to a 1232 and, when an internal caller hangs up, it instantly clears down [ie does not record the re-order tone]. this suggest it is seeing some sort of clear down signal?
