Hi all,
I have a customer with an EMG80 with digital extensions, every morning one phone seems to be forwarded or dialing a random extension,
They only have PSTN lines so I'm not suspecting hack however it's not out the question,
Is there a code to clear the phone of any forwards/programming etc, there is on panasonic just wondering if there is a similar thing for IPECS

Hi Yellow

i have had an EMG80 doing random things on one extension port phoning numbers also going into intercom answer mode for internal calls end up swapping the port for another one. the port that was playing up was port 1

what is the port on your system ?

the system is analogue system with 2x4 ISDN Hybrid card in but they are using SIP trunks

I believe the was port 7 however this is a firmware issue and we had to replace the full pbx today
We contacted the UK distributer wearepragma and they sent us out a new one for free, we will be a sending the faulty one back tomorrow
Hope this helps!!

just to make people aware there is a issue with the boards, on some boards and systems basically the phone system is suffering from RF interference and it will randomly dial out on phones . there is a serial number range that is effected . so if you get this issue, get the serial number of the board or system and check it against the range that are given by the re seller .

they should replace the system for free if it falls in the range .

but people should be grounding the system correctly .

i see it more commonly on systems that are installed into cat5/6 environments with data cabinets . not so much on systems installed on cw1308 cabling .

you need to ensure your patch panel 20 pair is grounded to the cabinet through its center earth wire and the system is earthed as well.

whilst making sure that the cabinet has a clean earth as well.

ive been to sites where as soon as i touch the cabinet i get a static shock off it due to amount of fans and stuff kicking around in it .

I have had numerous systems effected and also have one emg80 that is outside the date range given by the manufacturer and that has one extension doing random funny things... I also feel that it may also be a combination with the ldp92xx type phones

As I fitted an emg80 as a replacement for an ldk20 which had all 7000 series phones. Two or three months later I changed two 7008 phones for 9208'S because of faulty displays and the 9208'S started acting up after been put in.
We also have emg800 systems effected which is more worrying.
May know more after GPC 2018 !

I have only been doing LG for a few months and I need to be totally honest, they don't seem very good
I understand they are a much lower cost than for example Avaya, Unify or Panasonic however I still find it hard to recommend them to anyone

to be honest it got to the point where i just ripped out my effected customer and fitted a IP system.

Mr yellow i have been doing LG for over ten years now .
they have made great strides in the development over the last couple of years with the development of hosted phones and the such.

every make of system will have its bad points and good points

im not going to lye i do alot of maintenance call outs and get alot of phone calls from end customers that have phone systems and are not happy with them not only from customers in the uk but sometimes abroad as well. but this isnt down to the system, its 99.9 percent of the time down to the company that installed it . usally badly.

or mis selling . or lack of customer training

how many times have i seen systems with sip set ups installed on adsl circuits then customers wonder why they get drop outs and bad call qaulity. when they are pumping all there data through it as well even with QOS not a good idea

im not really a fan of putting data and sip on even a fttc circuit . in my eyes you should have one circuit for sip and one for data . just from a security point of view .

but there will always be the cost element and sales men promissing massive savings on migrating all there data and voice traffic on to one circuit .

i have a lot of 100 phone user systems out there which i have installed which i dont get alot of calls about from.

but they are on seperate sip only circuits and seperate switchs alltogether as long as the caberling is there . it avoids alot of conflicts with IT companys and saves on passing the buck as well.

i mean take this interferance issue .

i get to alot of sites where data cabinets dont have a clean earth . the system isnt earthed and neither are the patch panels that the voice 20 pair is on .

ive been to some sites where its been so bad ive got a bolt from the data cabinet it self lol.

ive ripped manyer avaya systems out and replaced them with LG not beacuse the lg is better . but beacuse my service as a engineer is better . with better customer training and support and understanding of how to set things up.
