I created a poster with some road signs that i put a drop shadow raster effect on.

I have the Background raster effects set at 300 dpi. > transparent > and options add .001 around objects.

I am printing from a PDf into an nyx Production House RIP onto a Mimaki Solvent jet Large format printer.

When i print the peiece out there are semi transparent boxes (think 10% transparecy box)around each of the road signs that have the raster effect on them.

When I switch to outline veiw there is nothign there showing them either.

How do I get rid of these so I can print this piece and send get it out of my shop!?

...ensure you aren't using spot colors the drop shadows sit on, convert those to CMYK if they are spot colors...

...export to 1.4 pdf or higher and ensure your RIP honors postscript overprints...

...or export to 1.4 pdf or higher and have "simulate overprints" turned on, when printing from acrobat, found in acrobat print settings...

...another solution is with a flattener preset, by way of directly printing from illustrator or saving to PDF 1.3:

Create a Transparency Flattener Preset that completely rasterizes everything:

Edit > Transparency Flattener Presets, click on “High” as a starting point, and then click “New.”

In the ensuing dialog box, yank the raster/vector slider all the way to the left.

Set the linework resolution to the printer’s res (say, 600), and set the gradient/mesh resolution to 300.

Save as a new Flattener Preset. this is now available in the print options and also the PDF options when saving to 1.3 PDF.

File > Print, and under Output, choose Composite

In Advanced > CHECK the “Overprints” pull down menu says "Simulate".

Under preset, select your all-raster flattener.
