Cleaning Tape ?

Arcserve requests that the tape drive be cleaned before each nightly backup. I just recently replaced the cleaning tape because I thought it might be the culprit, but it still continues to request a daily cleaning. After cleaning the drive, the backup is successful, Any idea's, is there a possible setting that I could change.

Doesn't this depend on the tape drive? I seem to recall that DLT's are self-monitoring and will indicate when they need cleaned. It may be worth shutting down ARCserve and running the cleaning tape through the drive a couple of times.

We have had this problem for about a month and last weekend I rebuilt the server and recreated the backup jobs I know this sounds a bit drastic but it worked! Sorry I haven't anything a bit simpler to say

I configured my Tape Drives to automaticlaly clean after 50 hours of use, of course these are for automatic tape libraries. Somewhere in the settings there is a place to dictate when a drive cleaniing happens, sorry can't recall off the top of my head where this is located.
