We use a Sony SDT-1000 drive with ArcServe 6.5 and Windows 2000 Server. The drive has lately been not recognizing the media unless head cleaner is used. Instead of once every couple of weeks (approx 25 hours running time on this machine), now it is almost every day, with every tape. The head cleaner is new, the tapes are about a year old. Is there additional cleaning I can do to this drive? This drive doesn't look like it would be suited for swabs and alcohol. I don't mind buying new tapes, I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking a maintenance step.
