Hi,

I am cleaning my Microtek Scanner 4800. I need to remove the scan head to clean the mirrors and lens, but I don't know if the cable connecting the head to the control board can be detached or not.

Here are two pictures of the same cable, attached to the scanner head. By the way, the same type of attachment is found at the opposite end (leading to the controller board):

Look at the other end...see if it has a connector as referenced here: thread602-1472513

Thanks Lemon13, the flat cable does unplug (doesn't have a lock or anything), and I just insert it back, it's that easy.

Thanks also for the info wahnula, but this is a different cable than the one I have mentioned, although both are flat.

The scanner cable doesn't have its own connector at the end. The end of the cable has bare strips of wire that "slides" directly to the scanner head connector.

I have cleaned the mirrors and now my scans are looking good again :)
