Cleaning Drive Help

I have a Commserve that is trying to do a drive cleaning job and it keeps failing. I have tried mark the drives clean but it still fails. Everytime I kill the job it restarts on its own. Does any one have any solutions?

I guess it depends on what you have set on the drive configuration in Commvault. Is it set to clean based on sense code? If so, then perhaps the drive is as fault if you are sure that your cleaning tape is good and has spare use's left.

Gone are the days of performing scheduled drive cleans. With LTO and DLT/SDLT drives you should only clean when neccessary and best to set the backup app to intercept the sense code as this is the drive sending the "I need a clean" message via the drive driver to the OS.
