Avaya seems to have messed this up royally or we aren't very smart :)

Login to new CU w/ 11.1.3 SW - config and default Administrator PWD is accepted ... brings up the new "change password" screen for Admin - Security Admin & System

Instructions for Admin pwd show ... "9 characters min - You must have TWO of these .... UPPER - lower - numerical - special characters.

Same for Security Admin pwd...except min 8 characters

System pwd shows ... must be min 1 character? Can't be any of a number of words or admin or security admin pwd.

So for example we tried ....

ADMIN pwd = MONday49080!@

SECURITY Admin pwd = TUESday49083@!

SYSTEM pwd = FRIday2024#@

Keeps giving error that SYSTEM pwd failed ... but seems to accept ADMIN and SECURITY admin pwds?

very frustrating....

Westi - problem is a known issue on the R11.1.3 if trying to access thru manager instead of webmanager

Accessed from webmanager and was able to change all the required passwords

Attached is Avaya's bulletin

Thanks DTGMI, have some pink for that

I know why I started hating on 11.1 when it came out and so far the bad taste in my mouth has not vanished. Avaya dropped the ball again on another release. They should pull a 4.1 again when they screwed up 4.0 they went back to a really good release and rebuilt from there instead of trying to fix stuff.

With 11.1.3.1 there is a new issue.
The root password shall not contain $ sign. If it does, you can use it in :7071 but not with SSH. Other passwords will work (not tried every special character).
This is only for systems installed from 11.1.3.1 OVA. If its was installed using 11.1.3 OVA and then updated to 11.1.3.1 the same problem doesn't exist.

Simple mistakes can happen to anyone. But such errors are only made possible by Avaya Engineering.
