Clean Install of Windows 2000 Professional 1

I would like to install Windows 2000 Professional
on a SINGLE NTFS partition.
I CANNOT boot from the CD, even when i set the boot order to boot from CD first in the BIOS (tried it, it didnt work)
I want to install Windows 2000 Pro CLEAN
I do NOT want to dual boot with another operating system.
I DO have the 4 disk boot disk set (tho i dont know what use it would be on a new unpartitioned, unformatted hard drive).
I DO have a Windows 9x start up floppy containing smartdrv.exe.

Is there a procedure to accomplish this?
Please let me know.

If you have the 4 Startup floppies for Win2000 insert disk one. Then follow the prompts. it is easy once you put the disks in. If you need help ask. Please let us (Tek-tips members) know if the solutions we provide are helpful to you. Not only do they help you but they may help others.

As butchrecon states, the boot disks essentially load drivers for the CD and perform a basic set up of the hard drive

I am no expert so take this with a grain of salt, just thought I would throw it out there.

When my computer (i840) wont boot from the CD (which I blame on Windows messing with boot data cause it only happens after an install) I fix it by going into the bios, under boot menu, and just disable the hard drive. Not only in the 'boot order' menu but I remove it from the 'Hard Drives' list so that it couldn't possibly boot from it.

After booting and installing Win2K I go back and re-enable it and from then on it works properly, meaning it properly goes through the boot order which I set in the bios.
