I'm planning to do a clean install of Backup Exec 10. I currently have 8.6 running on a different machine but all I want to retain is the restore catalog. The Veritas knowledge base says this can be done by copying the .u01 files from the catalog directory from the old version to the new install. The article only applied to installs of version 9. Does anyone know if this will still work in version 10?

That's good to read. On that same note, when a restore job needs to be run from the old catalog, all I should need to do is inventory the tapes from the previous install or is there something else that needs to be done?

Always need to inventory no matter what. You wont need to catalog if you move the catalog files over.
