Does this headline seem strange to anyone else?
"Clayton math teacher awarded"

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." - Helen Keller

It seems odd to my ear, too.

When used as a verb, award is generally used as a transitive verb. So it might be that the usage seems stilted because we're missing a following direct object which tells us that what awarded to the teacher.

Who received the Clayton math teacher? And for what?

Yeah, it does seem a bit off. Maybe "Clayton math teacher rewarded?" Having spent a bit of time in a newsroom, I know how editors have to truncate for available space.

Sorry, I didn't notice the [same] link in the original post, or, rather, I mistook it for a signature and liked the look. Is this what links look like now? Have never seen that paper clip before.

Yes please give: what tag did you use to make the paperclip icon/sunken link?

See Step 3 Attachment in the Post section.

Oh. Do you really need to use an attachment to post a link to a publicly available article? I just copy and paste it.

I thought the attachment is for files stored elsewhere, on your personal server, or some file storage site.

But looks good.

As usual, the weak, passive voice grates in my mind. I would much rather have seen the headline:

Thanks, everyone! Regarding the attachment way to show a link, I was following the procedure used by another forum and forgot the Tek-Tips way. Thanks to LNBruno for explaining it.

NorthNone - The attachment option is fairly new to Tek-Tips, and used it as intended. It is one one of several acceptable Tek-Tips methods.

It is proper for a newspaper headline. Historically, newspapers have always done this. Originally, it was a practical way to minimize the time it took to set the type, and to conserve characters. Now it's more about saving space, page layout, and making more room for advertising.

Quoted for truth.

Speaking of pithy headlines, we need to start a headline contest thread. You know, like

SIX NIX CHIX FLIX

or whatever that Variety headline was.
