Does anyone know of a dataset (preferably freely available!) that would classify areas by population or type of area?
I'm really looking to be able to classify things as large city, medium city, large town etc so I can match similar areas.
It may be possible to do this via local government wards, or by popluation density - I'm not really sure of the best way to do this.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!
