I have a customer that has a mitel 3300 and they asked me to get them caller id. (Church, got it donated, keep it cheep etc.) and I thought I had the programming correct but am not seeing caller id on incoming calls. I looked at the analog card that the trunks are coming in on and it is a 50003724 analog board, the big question is whether or not it is a board that will provide caller id to the system or is it mainly a POTS board? any help out there?

Is this in an SX-200 bay connected to the 3300? If that's the case, I don't think that card is supported on the 3300. I'm more of a 2K/older 3300 guy, so hopefully one of the regulars around here can give you a clearer answer.

The controller is the MX series controller, it has 2 t1 connections on the front and an amphenol connection on the back This card is the amphenol connector on the back of the main unit. It looks like a 4X12 card the analog trunks start at pin 20 on the amphenol connector. the part number came from opening up the top of the controller and reading the number off of the card (close to the front of the controller) this is configured as it came from the original installation with a note that the original installation never had analog ports only T1 ports.

Ah, now we know what we're looking at, and it's actually something I'm familiar with. That is indeed what's known as the Analog Main Board. And knowing that it's an MX controller tells me you're working with some older software as well, since 3300ICP release 9.0 was the last that was able to run on that hardware. And from what I can tell from the documentation, that card should support CLASS, but you need to make sure that you have set "CLASS Trunk" to "Yes" in the Trunk Circuit Descriptor.

Ok I'll check on that, thanks.

There's also a couple of COS options that need to be turned on (need to know what software release to be sure of what they're called), but since you're asking about the hardware capability I'm assuming you've already enabled those.

I went thru the COS and the install guide and hopefully turned on all the COS options that had anything to do with CLASS/Caller id. I'll pull the software level when next on site and let you know, should be tomorrow.

It sounds like you've got it all set up right. So, either we're both still forgetting about some other setting, or the card actually doesn't support CLASS (wouldn't be the first time Mitel tech docs were wrong). Either way, at this point you've got me stumped.

One more thing to check, the CLASS/CLIP COS options need to be applied to both the trunks and the stations. That's one that gets missed frequently.

At the demarc, disconnect from the system and connect with an analog phone that has display. Any cordless home phone will do.
See call ID then you now it is the 3300 setup.

I dumped the COS for the telephones and trunks so you can see if I boofed something else up

on both trunks and set classes of service.
Display ANI/ISDN Calling Number Only = Yes
Display ANI/DNIS/ISDN Calling/Called Number = Yes
ONS CLASS/CLIP Set = Yes

With the trunk circuit descriptor set to CLASS trunk as perviously mentioned to check by Lundah when you call in is there any delay in the call being presented to the phone?
Assuming the lines are being directed to key(s) on a set(s).

No no notable delay between the callback on the caller and the indications of ring on the telephone. also still not seeing CID

Shouldn't there be a SMDR type of log on this system?
