Hi guys,
I see that many of you have had the same problem I have now: applications Clarion 5 running very well on Windows 98, are much slower on XP.
I tried to set the OpLocks as indicated in several answers, but without results.
I'd like to comprehend if I had to modify the code or if exists an other way ( compiling with Clarion 6?.....)
Thanks
Umberto

Hi Umberto,

There was some changes done to the compiler way back to make it run properly in XP. I cannot remember the version. I can however confirm that Clarion 6.x programs do run OK in XP.

Regards

There is a program from soft velocity called c5xplink that clears up most of the problems with Clarion 5 and XP. e-mail me and I have a copy.

Note there is an excellent chance that your speed problems relate to NTFS vs. FAT. A year or two ago, Ron Schofield wrote a sieve of erostones saving each value on disk. He found NTFS to be MUCH slower than FAT. If I recall correctly he found that Novell was the fastest.

AlanBreck1000: Where can I get this update for Clarion?

Best regards, Denis

It is not an update but rather a small patch to the compiler. I guess I can e-mail it to you if I have your address.

I don't really know how to get my email addres to you, I wouldn' like to msg my email to thousands of people :). Could you upload patch to a website like rapidshare or megaupload and than post the link here? It would be the best sollution and I would really appreiciate it.

Best regards, Denis

Hi Denis,

Just post you email as

d e n i s @ x y z . c o m

and e-mail harvesters would not pick it up.

Thanks AlanBreck1000 and ShankarJ.

Best regards, Denis
