hi guys,
I programmed years ago, for several years in the old clarion for dos.
It seemed so much easier than this..
or maybe, i have gotten too spoiled over the last 10 years by microsoft access...

Hi,

C55 is not more difficult, it is a different. With the applications wizards you can write really quickly simple programs.

Valery.

I have been trying clarion 5.5, I just find it so much harder than microsoft access.
in access, i put together one form that does the listing of the record, (the browsing), the update and adding of records, all on one form, automatically.
so much quicker than clarion.

You cant compare Access and Clarion. Access is really limited. Clarion is a proper programming language. It has problems and strenghs, but you can do a lot more with it than with Access. Comparing Access and Clarion is a bit like comparing Word VBA and C++. They are not the same tools and they are not aimed at the same people.
If you want to put together a couple of forms with clarion the best is to create a proper dictionary, with all the relationships between tables and let the application generator do the rest for you, then modify the generated program to suit your needs. Easy fast but not the same frame of mind as Access.

Ehm... First question: Are you a user or a programmer?. Second: What kind of task do you need to accomplish?. Third: Who will use the application?

Answer these ones and we'll see what tool is best for you.
