CLAN on a G3 V8i 3

Does anyone know if it's possible to add a CLAN to a G3 V8i

None of the IP commands are available such as " ch ip-serv" or "ch ip-int"..

You can add a CLAN to a V8 switch, but it has very limited functionality. The only thing I was able to use it for on 8 was IP connectivity to Audix. You cannot do SAT services or anything like that until Rel 9.

Sorry, I don't recall the commands for 8 as that was 3-4 years ago. You may also be looking at a RTU issue if the commands are not present.

Look for the FAQ on how to hook a cisco console port to the SAT port. That would enable remote Administration. Also there are devices call LAN-SAT or something like that made by a third party that will allow serial interface via IP, if i remember right they were about 500 bones each.

CLAN's were first available on V7. We used them for the CMS link, worked great.
Having said that, I believe that ASA connectivity via CLAN only became available in V9.5.........
