Can someone outline the differences ?
I understand the cke3 to be the older style processor and the 4 and 5 the newer styles.
What are the feature and capabilities and some known things to lookout for ?

Thanks.

The CKE4 and 5 are basically having the same functions for the same release, which can be upgraded to the currant Magix R2. The CKE3 has less onboard RAM and won’t support as many lines and stations I can’t remember the exact number but I think it something over 150 stations 48 lines. The CKE3 can only be upgraded to R7 V10, which won’t work the new 44xx phones. So endless you need a large system any processor will work. Let me know if need processor or upgrade information.

Blueline,

The CKE3 processor does not support the Lead access needed For the upper 32k of memory used by 016 MLX cards introduced in the release 7 legend. I have never tried using a forced install card to upgrade a CKE3 to a legend R7(the most recent release is R7V14.2) but I know that if I did, a 016MLX won't work.

Using 016 mlx cards in the R7 increases the Digital station capacity from 127 atations to 200 stations and the system capacity including the Adjuncts from 255 to 400 end points. The latest official release for the CKE3 I've ever seen is R6.1V10

The CKE4 and CKE5 Both are Functionally the same (for now who knows for sure?), But the CKE4 fits into the Plastic Legend Cabinet only and the CKE5 fits in either the Metal Magix cabinet or the Plastic Cabinet with the use of a clamshell

I have upgraded CKE3 processors with the 7.14.2 flash card
and they work fine. The 016 will still not work with this
upgrade.

Here's a question:

If I upgrade my CKE5 to Magix, will it still work in a legend carrier?, Will I lose any funcionality of Magix if I do place it in a Legend carrier.????

The MAGIX will work in a Plastic Carrier. Just be aware that you Cannot use ATL modules with the Magix and The INA board MUST go in a metal cabinet. You can connect a metal Expansion cabinet to a plastic one, and if there are any blank slots in the plastic cabinet you program in "BRIDGE BOARDS"

Well, according to this thread (and the card itself), I have a CKE5 processor in this Merlin Legend system. However, according to SPM's System Inventory, I have a CKE4, Hardware Vintage 02. Any ideas as to the reason for the discrepancy? Thanks in advance.

I found the same thing in my inventory a while back and asked Expanets technicians about this. Not one of them has gotten back to me with the answer.
As best I can tell, if the software load in Legend, CKE4 will show in the inventory. If the software load is Magix, CKE5 will show.
Just one of theose Avaya mysteries I guess...
