Hello

I'm working on a IT Service Desk providing 1st and 2nd line support to 1000+ users. I've been doing this type of job now for 2½ years.

I'm keen to further my career, and seeing as I have a hobby of web-site design in ASP/Vbscript and PHP/MySQL I was hoping to move into that area of IT.

I've looked at a few courses and think the CIW Master Designer would be the most approprite, as it contains part of what I already know (consolodation of my knowleder) and then take my skills further, focasing on E-Commerce and structure os sites etc.

My Question is, Is the CIW Master Designer a suitable certificate to get to move me into a new career path to the one I am in at the moment.

If not, can any suggest what I can do.

I'm looking to purchase a couple of CIW books and self-study for the exam, and then take the exams when I beleive I am at the correct level. I can't take time off work to go on 5 day courses. Any ideas, or suggestions?

Cheers

Kedge

Kedge, your overall approach and attitude are spot on; it's a good plan to try to get certs that will both solidify and extend your current knowledge.

I can't comment on the CIW Master Designer certificate because I haven't heard of it, but then web-site design is not my field.

All the best,

Lesley
