I'm running three Citrix Metaframe 1.8 FR1 SP3 servers on Windows 2000 SP2. We have load balancing installed on all three. We also have the Terminal Server Licensing installed on a seperate Terminal Server from the Citrix Farm. We have a published app that only uses 2 of the 3 servers and the 1 is our master browser and has no users. We start getting an error saying "Citrix Server Not Available, Please try again later." In the middle of the day when people come back from lunch. If we open up the one server they logon just fine. (This isn't the solution we are looking for) Any Ideas?

Just a hunch, but check the permissions for either the ICA connection (in the Citrix Connection Configuration utility) or for the server (they must have logon local rights). SInce you mention it happens at lunch, if they are OK in the morning, I would say my suggestion above is off-base. If it is intermittent, when it is occuring, are there any disconnected sessions on the two servers you want to connect to? How many sessions are connected?

There are disconnect sessions on both servers but don't understand why that would have any bearings? One of the users that got the error today was disconnected. It still wouldn't allow her to logon. Here is the session count.
Citrix1(Not in the published app because it is our master browser) - 3
Citrix2 - 34
Citrix3 - 33

We have 195 Citrix User Licenses Pooled 50 on each server plus the 15 base licenses. We also have load balancing licenses on all 3 servers. I have load stats for when the error is happening if anyone knows what they mean.

Can you please tell us more about your infrastructure. It sounds like a dropped line. These errors usually happen because of time outs on lines.

Its not network connection related that has already been tested and ruled out.

If the problem is network related as Illuvater has suggested the presence of disconnected sessions would support this. If you are working away in a Citrix session and you lose your network connection, after a certain amount of time, your session will go into disconnect state. Theoretically, you can then reconnect to your session once the network problem is resolved. However, I have seen where disconnections do not allow you to reconnect. At this point, I would not rule out any piece of information as irrelevant.

As Illuvatar mentioned, any additional information you can provide will make it easier to help you.

The reason for the disconnects is because we have it set to disconnect after 60 minutes. This makes the user session disconnect when they come back to lunch.

Could be to do with your load balancing parameters - if you type qserver /load at a cmd prompt does it show > 10000 on the server that is not accepting connections? CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

Whenever I type in qserver /load or qserver citrix1 /load it just takes me back to a command prompt.

So you have it disconnecting while they are at lunch, and this is when the problem occurs. Is this correct? Have you tested reconnecting to disconnecting sessions to see if it is functioning properly? I have seen it not work properly sometimes. What are you gaining by causing them to disconnect over lunch? Disconnecting does not free up any server memory or licenses. I would either reset their connections or leave them alone.

This problem was occuring before I started the disconnect time. It has nothing to do with that. If we reset or logoff the user from the disconnect they still can't sign on.
