citrix print spooler hang

Hi,

We installed FR1, after sometimes whenever the user send something for printing the print spooler service in the citrix server hangs. Once we restart the service then it works but it keep on hanging frequently. Please help.
 
Are you using HP printers? Try to track down exactly which printer is causing this problem. I had this problem and it was caused by a HP5n I changed this to HP4 and this sorted it.
 
I had the same experience with an HP laserjet 5n printer. one I removed the driver from the server everything went back to normal.
 
We have also had the same problems with HP printers runnning on Citrix and found that the problem was caused by the driver supplied with the printer or in your windows o/s being a single user version, this causes a licensing conflict and the HP ULAR pops up on your citrix server and it waits for a response.
Depending on what you have running at the time, the ULAR screen may not be obvious, it may be sitting in background. The server CPU peaks at 99% and the server hangs. We also found that if you kill the print spooler service and restarted it, the server CPU usage returned to normal.
For a more permanent solution, go to the HP site and download the "Corporate" version of drivers for any HP printers you have installed on your Citrix server and reload the corporate driver versions for the server and any PC's you have connected.
